Farm safety, especially for children, is one of the most important issues facing farm families today. Each year in the United States, approximately 100 children under the age of 20 die of agricultural injuries on U.S. farms and ranches, and over 22,000 children are injured in farm-related accidents. Though these statistics vary, they always remain above acceptable rates.

Farm Safety Trailer

The Minnesota Farm Bureau Promotion & Education Committee is proud to announce the availability of two Farm Bureau Farm Safety Trailers. The trailers contains the following exhibits:
  • 911 Simulator
  • Water Safety
  • Auger Safety
  • Tractor Rollover
  • Hidden Hazards "I Spy a Farm Hazard"
  • "Wheel of Misfortune"
  • "Tug o' War" with Grain (grain entrapment)
  • Pinch Points (pulleys & chains)
  • Helmet Safety
  • Grain Bridging
  • Lawn Mower Safety
* Please note: A curriculum on the above exhibits is included within the trailer.

Each exhibit allows you to set up eleven basic safety stations. Because each day camp must be designed to meet the specific needs of the local community, you may wish to add to them by working with volunteers in your community such as ambulance, fire and rescue, and electrical companies.

The Farm Safety Trailers are designed to increase awareness of the potential dangers associated with specific farm and ranch practices, facilities, livestock and equipment. Those that attend your camp will learn how they can avoid these hazards and by doing so reduce injuries and death. Children 8-13 years old, as well as teens and adults, should be your audience. Remember to tell participants to share what they learn with their families and friends.

The contract agreement must be completed and returned to the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation prior to use. Download the contract agreement and evaluation forms below. If you would like more information about the Farm Safety Trailers call 651-768-2117 or email at info@fbmn.org.
