Statement by Minnesota Farm Bureau President Paap on Federal GMO Labeling Bill

“The federal GMO labeling bill passed by the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives is a bi-partisan compromise that protects interstate commerce and supports new technologies,” said MFBF President Kevin Paap. “Establishing a uniform, national labeling system will provide consistent information to consumers and avoid a patchwork of confusing and potentially misleading labeling standards from state to state. We thank Senator Klobuchar and Senator Franken and Representatives Walz, Kline, Paulsen, McCollum, Emmer, Peterson and Nolan for their support of this bill.”

The bill now awaits President Obama’s signature.
