Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation Statement on Passage of Trade Promotion Authority

“The passage of Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) shows other countries that the United States is ready to act on final offers at the negotiating table,” said Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation (MFBF) President Kevin Paap. “We thank Congressmen John Kline, Erik Paulsen and Tom Emmer for their support of the bill.”

“Agriculture and other industries need the U.S. government to continue their work to open markets, expand economic development and support a strong rules based trading system,” said MFBF President Paap. “Farmers and ranchers rely on these expanded markets to continue to be a world leader in exporting food, fiber and energy products.”

“TPA will allow Congress to play a strong role in trade negotiations,” said MFBF President Paap. “This enhanced participation provides an opportunity for farmers and ranchers to work with their individual members of Congress to help them understand the necessity of expanding agricultural trade opportunities. There are exciting opportunities ahead, and Minnesota agriculture will be at the table.”
