Ignite the Spark - Farm Bureau’s Leadership Conference

The Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation (MFBF) presents the Leadership Conference, January 23-24, 2015. This year’s conference, “Ignite the Spark,” will be held at Treasure Island Resort and Casino in Red Wing. The Leadership Conference is designed to provide leadership training for all Farm Bureau members.

Keynote Speakers: Greg Peterson and Will Coggin

Greg Peterson will address the group on Friday, January 23. Greg is the oldest of the Peterson Farm Brothers, known for their YouTube parody music videos about farming. Their family raises beef cattle and grows wheat, corn, alfalfa, milo and soybeans near Assaria, Kansas. The Peterson Farm Brothers’ first hit was “I’m Farming and I Grow It,” a parody of the song “I’m Sexy and I Know It” by LMFAO, receiving over six million views in over 200 countries in just over two weeks. Since then, they have used this platform to create many more videos about their farm and have traveled to over 30 states and three countries to perform and speak on what makes agriculture important.

Will Coggin will address the group on Saturday, January 24. Coggin is a senior research analyst at the Center for Consumer Freedom (CCF) where he focuses his research on animal care and environmental issues. Coggin is a frequent critic of radical extremists who seek to take choices away from Americans and put farmers out of business.

This year’s conference tours will depart from Treasure Island at 10 a.m. on Friday. Tour stops include Red Wing Shoes, S.B. Foot Tanning Company, Syngenta Stanton Research & Development Facility, Cannon River Winery, University of Wisconsin-River Falls Dairy Learning Center and plant, Stoney End, Pottery Museum of Red Wing and Red Wing Brewery.

The conference will kick off with an opening address from Greg Peterson of Peterson Farm Brothers. Friday evening will conclude with a grand welcome and dinner followed by cosmic bowling hosted by the MFBF Promotion & Education Committee.
