Farm Bureau members from Minnesota had the honor of hearing from distinguished guests at the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation (MFBF) Annual Meeting November 21-23.
“We were very pleased to have a number of elected and appointed officials join us at Minnesota Farm Bureau’s 95th Annual Meeting,” said MFBF President Kevin Paap. “The officials discussed issues important to farmers and ranchers and shared their views on the 2014 Congressional and Minnesota legislative sessions.
Friday, November 22
Senator Amy Klobuchar addressed Farm Bureau members at the evening banquet. The Senator provided Farm Bureau members with an update on the farm bill and Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) progress. She recognized that farmers always get their work done, and Congress should do the same.
Meeting with Farm Bureau members at the Friday reception were Members of Congress Erik Paulsen and Rick Nolan; state Senators Eric Pratt, Bill Weber, Gary Dahms, David Osmek; state Representatives David Fitzsimmons, Tim Faust, Jerry Hertaus, Kelby Woodard; Minnesota Department of Agriculture Commissioner Dave Frederickson. Also attending were staff members from the offices of U.S. Senator Klobuchar and U.S. Representatives Paulsen, Bachman, Peterson and Nolan.
Saturday, November 23
Saturday noon, Governor Dayton highlighted the importance of agriculture in Minnesota when he addressed Farm Bureau members. He stressed the importance of a positive working relationship with Farm Bureau members to ensure Minnesota agriculture remains strong in the future.
Representative Jeanne Poppe and Senator Gary Dahms also addressed Farm Bureau members during the 2014 Legislative Forecast general session.
